PyTorch 1.0 AI framework is now Open Source
During F8 conference of this year, FaceBook is very much focused on rebuilding their image. After the recent incidents of data leaks, FB lost a significant amount of user base. On the first day of this conference, they planned to open source their AI framework PyTorch, which will assist developers to use its models in production and research. They also emphasize the technical advancement of the FB and taking “broader responsibility” in terms of privacy and security.
PyTorch Framework for all
According to FaceBook PyTorch 1.0 will help developers and researchers to move from research to production in a single framework. Prototyping and scope of experimentation get faster due to PyTorchs frontend and its flexible programming model. With the release of PyTorch 1.0, the framework will also offer graph-based execution, a hybrid front-end allowing seamless switching between modes, distributed training, as well as efficient and performant mobile deployment.
Future plans of FB
Last year, FaceBook and Microsoft joined to create ONNX to allow users to smooth the movement between frameworks. This time they have integrated ONNX into PyTorch1.0. The goal is these platforms can be used interchangeably with other frameworks and developers can use them as per requirements. Facebook has also revealed its plan of merging PyTorch 0.4 and Caffe2 codebases over the course of next few months to generate a hybrid framework that would support multiple features. The beta version of PyTorch is slated to arrive later this year. It’ll be a collection of open source tools, libraries, datasets, training models, etc. Find more information here.
